Ditto the above on home keys, but you REALLY need to find an up-front and personal course (not online, I suspect) course in a community college or some small school near you, and take a typing course.
I took my typing course in high school and got up to 80wpm which I understand is only moderate these days...but it has turned out to be one of the most helpful and time-saving things I did, and I can memorize a few words ahead and type without looking.
It's worth a few bucks and a semester or two of effort, if you can stand a little of what you might find rather BORING...it all amounts to repetition and practice.

Get a Typing Tutor CD. And practice it through. You can make it through 1 week. I did it in 2 hours. Mavis Beacon Typing Tutor is good as my opinion.

start off using just your index fingers to type. do it slowly and then speed it up gradually and introduce other fingers to speed up your typing.
