Comment on other people's videos,this lets people know you have an account,and the option to click on your username to find out more.

post your link for the video on things like facebook or myspace and have your friends click it. if its good enough, your friends will tell other friends and so on and so on and thats typically how it gets popular. besides the people who live on youtube on their computers.
