I like the Red Sox pitching staff, but I'm concerned about Schilling's age and health. Also, my confidence level in the highly inconsistent and unpredictable knuckleball of Wakefield and the general ineffectiveness of Turtle Head Tavarez. Who is currently available through trade and who have the Red Sox shown interest in? I dont usually pay much attention to rumors, but I really hope the Red Sox are considering making a strong effort to get a top quality starter to give us a better chance at pulling off another Championship this year.

That rotation is fine without Schilling. Gabbard is undefeated at Fenway thus far. I am a Tigers fan - he dominated us.

The only problem with the BoSox is this - although they have the best record in the AL, since the middle of May, they have a sub-.500 record, and are about 2 games behind the Royals. That's not good. It's the great start they got off to that's keeping them up there. If I were a BoSox fan, I would have felt more comfortable if they were 10 GB at the break, instead of 10 games ahead.

If I were a Red Sox fan I would share the same concerns you have pointed out. I have not heard or read about a single deal the Red Sox might be working on, but you can bet that you and I are not the only two people with these concerns. Of course the Red Sox have a good chance to win it all and if a pitcher becomes available I would expect they would be all over that deal to make something happen.

Simply put, the Red Sox don't need to add another pitcher. They have 3 high quality prospects set to enter the rotation by then end of this year and the start of next. Clay Bucholz, Jon Lester and Kason Gabbard all have the chance to be GREAT! Don't be surprised though, if the red sox deal one of the three to get an Eric Gagne or a Brad Lidge.

Teams are going to hold on to their starting pitchers for dear life so the answer to your question is...not much. There are rumors that Natt Morris might be available since the Giants are probably out of the race. I wouldn't worry about Boston's pitching. I worry more about their scattershot offense. I was great to see Gabbard's complete game shutout last night.

youll probably hate this but they should trade schilling, it doesnt matter cuz the tigers are going to mop them up in the playoffs if the sox get that far
