everyone is making a big deal about A-Rod and the NY Crack Yankers because they are 1 game over .500, and yet the Anaheim Angels who have the best record in baseball are ingored.

but it is not just a question of reporting game results. For example, the Angels swept the Yanks several weeks ago, and yet on the TV broadcast, the bias of the announcers was so obvious. The announcers should just sit in the stands and root for the Yanks and STFU.

i could not agree with you more! traditionally, the angels got the yankees number and kick their butt no matter when or where or what position the teams are in. the angels and the yankees have been going at it all season so far, with boston thrown in a bit. but look at the record will ya????

angels rule! go angels go.

The East Coast is where ABC, NBC, CBS, and other media outlets are headquartered. CNN is in Atlanta, I believe. Plus, there is a significant media presence in the nation's capital, Washington DC. Plus, all the top-rated journalism schools are there too, which plays into the bias. The East is always going to be biased even if they say they aren't both in politics and in sports teams too. I'm a Detroit sports fan as I'm a born and raised Michigander. The Tigers are my favorite baseball team. And even though they're one of the best teams in baseball with the Angels, the Red Sox, the Indians, and Seattle, it's always the Red Sox this, the Yankees that. The way to counter that is to win lots of World Series -- hopefully that will be the Tigers!

It's because much of the country is in the dark (literally) about the West Coast teams. When I lived in the east, I didn't have much chance to see the California teams because I was in bed by the times the games started. The media are really no different, and they also have to pander to the large eastern markets that want to hear about New York, love them or hate them.

Now that I live a little more west (mountain time area), I get to see and appreciate the western teams. But I don't think it's really a bias so much as a reflection of what the majority of fans in the east when to see and hear about. And besides, the Yankees really are the biggest franchise in baseball, so we should expect to always hear about them.

The West coast gets treated like a minor league division because all the media camps are on the East coast. There were no baseball teams West of the Mississippi before 1958 and the media still seems to think nothing has changed.

The teams are newer than the older East Coast teams. Baseball is so full of traditionalists that they can't see the quality of good teams from elsewhere until they've won 7 or 8 World Championships. Let's face it, the SF Giants just aren't perceived to be the NY Giants. Time will take care of it, but only time.

The Crank Yankers are in NY that's why. ESPN is in NY (Connecticut really but it's all the same). All the major news outlets are based out of NY. So simple as that!

I agree with you but that's just how it goes when the News outlets are based in the vicinity.

Can' forget about the Dodgers, look how long it's taking for people to know who Russell Martin is. And might I add they have the best record in the NL and are riding a season high five game win streak and I haven't heard a word about it!

I agree with you but I don't think it's just a West Coast problem. I live on the East Coast and am a Mets fan but all I ever hear about is Yankees, Red Sox, Red Sox, Yankees...and on and on. I hate it!
