I think it's great, considering how many people are on the waiting lists for organ transplants. If I die, and some sick child can use my kidneys or liver, give them to him. What the hell use are they to me if I'm dead?

Donor. People have a choice to either be an organ donor or not. I dont think anyone is going around demanding you give up your kidney. At our hospital we need extremely good documentation that someone has classified themselves as an organ donor. This is after a person has died. I've never heard anyone asking someone to be a donor while they're still alive except in very unusual cases. Where in the world do you live?

I think it is irresponsible for people to NOT choose to be an organ donor when so much good can come from something you aren't using anymore. I don't agree with the idea of making it manditory for everyone to be. The final wishes of the original inhabitant need to be observed. If that wish is to let someone else make use of every possible part they can, then fantastic. There are personal beliefs I cannot comprehend, but that doesn't make them completely valid, and if they need to be buried with their entire body intact, then so be it.

Many cultures show a certain respect towards dead bodies, particularly how they are handled after death. I think that many people are upset at the government's suggestion that it take over ownership of a dead body to look for organs, which might and might not be suitable for transplant. Many cultures will find this offensive.

there are some religious issues with it, after all catholics believe that you are resurrected when you die so you therefore need all your organs when you are in heaven.
it depends on your belief on whether you think that the government should be allowed to make organ donation compulsory
i believe that it should be as I am not at all religious, yet am willing to keep an open mind. When we are dead we wont need our organs so why not give them to someone who desperately needs them?
and what is the point of them rotting in the ground when they can be used to help someone else live?
wont that get you to heaven anyway?

I am not in favour of that kind of practise it is against some religions beliefs plus they will probably exempt ethic groups of a particular type for fear of racist reprisals . The choice should always be the individuals and if no consent given then no organs removed regardless of relatives wishes .
Governmental Trickery just to confuse you in their favour .

You don't have to give your bodies to a Donner. It's up to you. Some people want to but it is against my religion to give my body to a donner.

I quite understand how you feel, what suprises me is that you think you own yourself now. Governments have always owned the people, if you do not believe me step out of line.
As for the donor, you can opt out, you never know they may even find your card.

I think its a great idea. Anyone who doesn't want their organs to be used can always opt out. Just make sure your nearest and dearest know your wishes and fill in the appropriate forms and you and your bits will be left alone.

The government already own our medical records. Who gives a damn what happens to the body after death? It is just a piece of meat.
