OK, it might be. If the stud en can demonstrate that their beliefs prohibit them from going to a place consecrated to a different god, they might have a case.
Rather than go off the deep end, just talk to the instructor and see if they can get an alternate assignment.
I found myself in that situation once. It all worked out fine.

You are kidding right this is not the Inquisition you can go to any college you want if you are accepted there and your faith should have nothing to do with it that is considered Discrimination whether it is state or federal Discrimination is Discrimination.
And what do you mean interview a couple of people you need to explain that further instead of leaving it in limbo like that ok.

Only if the student has no say in the matter. I am not talking about getting a failing grade; I mean if the student is forced physically to go and take an active part in the worship services (receive communion, confess sins, etc).
Going to any church for any reason other than for criminal intent is perfectly legal in the USA.

well it is against the law to make the student go to church and make them pray but if it's for an asignment on let say catholic people, it would be student's choice to fail or get a good grade

NO, I would think it would be best to get the permission of the Pastor first though.
Why the thumbs down? It is a sign of respect to obtain permission of the religious leader of the establishment before questioning anyone who goes there so he can give them the option of answering your questions. Some people won't care & some won't want to be bothered. Common Sense!

Your circumstance is a little ambiguous--is it to research the beliefs of that church? Or is it to try and convert them?
