mostly call it a remote, but have known to say tv channel changing thingy, or the controller, clicker....depends. and when i cant find it i call it bad words......have u ever been watching the tv and the channels are changing on their own or the volume is going up and down? and u realize ur sitting on it...

I used to call it the "Hooferdoofer". I think I got that from the Noel Edmonds "Telly Addicts" show.
Now it's just the remote.

Ours is 'the Gizmo'.
Years ago when we first had a remote, my father wasn't 'up' on technology and gizmo seemed (to him) a technology term. However, the name stuck and now we call it the gizmo in our house too.

We just call it the remote, but back when I was a student, one of my housemates called it 'Frank' after Frank Zappa, and the name stuck.
