Only 46% say they're Republican now. 35% approve of the President's handling of the war.

Very interesting. Military members don't usually discuss political affiliation, it's a no-no for them; they work for the President (Commander-In-Chief) no matter what party is in the White House at any given time.

I find it MOST interesting because a large per centage of the (all voluntary) military is made up of minorities, traditionally democrats. In other words, I'd be suprised to hear the majority of military members were EVER in favor of this administration. And 45% now??? LOL

I have to question the validity of the statistics. (Not questioning YOU, I mean the source of the article you linked.) Thanks for kick-starting the brain cells. :-)

No, there are just some whiners who have had it too easy for too long. Guys in WWII were in for 5 or 6 years with very few breaks. I think part of the problem is the pressure these guys have from libs who expect them to somehow fight a war without killing anybody and certainly not civilians who act strange or don't follow the rules or who happen to get in the way. That's what happens in a war but libs don't seem to get that. I think maybe the original "Star Trek" had a great idea for a liberal war: A few hundred or so people just calmly walk over to annihilators and get killed. No fuss no muss. Easy.

You can't really get get accurate numbers like that.

There are some in the U.S. military that are completely brainwashed, and have no actual opinion of their own.

Others simply refuse to break ranks with their fellow soldiers due to feelings of loyalty - or are trying to justify to themselves that they have to be fighting for something good, otherwise all of the piles of bodies, destruction, suffering, and misery are for nothing.

The military doesn't suggest thinking for yourself, because they expect you to do whatever you are told.

Unquestiongly.

Unfortunately this is necessary, because soldiers must be extremely disciplined, and follow orders in order to keep from endangering their fellow soldiers. One "maverick" doing his own thing can get a lot of people maimed or killed.

They are shifting away from Bush, but no towards the democrats. Like most people, they are getting disgusted by both parties, and looking for a good third party choice to lead us out of this darkness.

Which poll do you believe. The troops support their President and support their mission. Only those on the far left want to muzzle the brave men and women in our military...
