Can someone please tell me the logic behind the "partial-birth" abortion? I honestly cannot fathom how someone could agree that this is a resonable right that women should have.

Thanks Smedrick,
but if the situation is that dire why would it be allowed to progress to the point of basically delivering the child.
Also,
What is the medical term?

Did I try to force anyone to believe what I believe?..no, I asked a question for the sincere purpose of learning something. I am an intelligent human being and I think for myself. I am a christian..by choice and I am not anyones puppet. If you are answering my question with more questions you are not helping. If I knew the answers I wouldn't be asking you guys would I?

This is performed only when the mother's life is in danger, and that is exactly the reasoning behind it.

Partial birth abortion is something that does not happen without consent of the doctor and is almost always done when the pregnancy is a risk to mother or fetus and continuation would pose a severe risk.
To respond to that point, in the first trimester is is difficult to diagnose severe fetal abnormalities, also conditions such as preeclampsia do not tend to developed until into the second trimester. As the fetus increases in size and requires more resources the risks become greater. There is also the point that the body during the first trimester will often times rid itself of a trouble pregnancy by way of miscarriage, however in the second trimester miscarriage is very rare. The body is imperfect and if there is an issue, or and issue develops that the body is unable to handle medical intervention may be needed.

Partial birth abortions are a myth. Even steadfast abortionists refuse to perform this surgery. It is merely an inflammatory term, coined by "pro-fetusers", to outrage their constituency. If they are performed even rarely, it is to save the mother's life (what a lousy excuse, right?).
Why would any doctor perform this kind of abortion, with all its supposed gore, when a saline abortion would be much less traumatic for all involved? I have a friend whose baby died in utero. The doctors actually made her have a vaginal delivery of the child. Even that is traumatic.

This is a non issue that the right has attempted to blow out of proportion. It is very rarely performed and is not even called "partial birth" abortion. That's not a medical term, it's a political one.

I am pro-choice, but I cannot justify that one. If you were going to carry a baby that far along, why not have it and give it up for adoption... I disagree with any form of abortion after the 1st trimester, unless something is seriously wrong and the mother could also die as a result.

Intact Dilatation and Extraction (D&X) is the medical term for this rarely performed procedure.

it's okay to have your beliefs but why do you feel it's okay to tell everyone they have to think like you? Why aren't you questioning the deaths in Darfur? is it because they're not white? or is it because you're church doesn't tell you to question it? Why does your churches hand puppet, Bush, hate abortion but love assault rifles? is it better to wait till their adults before you kill them?

The pro-lifers will have to explain it to you, since they invented the term for the sole purpose of banning it.

please, give us a break.
-or-
why don't you tell us how often this happens, what it is "exactly", why Doctors would even consider such a thing, and what dose this have to do with women's rights.
NOT ONE single conservative has ever been willing or able to give me the answer to the Four (4) questions above.
hint - it helps if you answer them in order.
