now I can't open this file, what program should I use to open it?
and could I use it as a cursor on my computer? how?

You should be able to open the file with whatever program you orignally saved it. You may also be able to open it with other graphic programs by changings its extension to .bmp.

To use it as your curosr, go into the Control Panel and the Mouse icon. Go to the Pointer tab. Decide which of the different cursor you want to replace with your ani file (usaually Normal Select). Browse to your ani and select it.

You can't open an ani file directly; it's a system thing.

I don't think you can use your own cursor on your computer, only on a website or within an application you write.

I think there is software called cursorXP that will allow you to do that, but I'm not sure if it's free >_<.
