There won't be another Mackbook for now. They just released their Macbook in late June.
Go ahead and purchase your Macbook. Enjoy the freedom of the apple world, where worries are less.

All computers constantly upgrade their lines with new processors, more memory and bigger harddrives. Apple has a pretty regular cycle of doing that in June and occasionally in December/January time frame.
Go ahead and buy the laptop, any changes won't be significant at this point in the year. We'll know well in advance if they're going to make any major changes to their production lines.

Just buy it. With Apple, a new technology is always just around the corner.
I believe what you are referring to is the use of LEDs in the screens. Apple only said they were doing it for environmental reasons, but there has been some speculation that it might lead to better color and battery life.
There is also leopard, but you can upgrade to that easily.

Apple is pretty notorious for announcing their products well in advance. If it's still in "secret" phase, it's NOT coming out this summer.
Remember the iPhone? It was announced a long time before it was released this summer. I first heard about it in February, and I suspect that lots of people knew about it before me.

New operating system is coming out in October, maybe some upgrades, but not a new laptop. I would wait until they release Leopard (the new operating system) to buy the laptop though.
Great choice, I love my Mac and they last forever.

They just introduced LED screens in the MacBook Pro line, so the next step will be to put them into the MacBook line. I would guess that will happen in October when the new OS comes out.
The new OS is only going to cost $129.00 when it comes out, so if you buy now... thats all it will cost to upgrade it.
