in 2006 it rained for like 25 days straight. Very wet month. i would actually say april or may is slightly better weather-wise. but if you are set on march, the later the better.as far as averages etc.

average hi in march is 65
average low in march is 43
average rain is 4.09"

If you can wait until april:

average hi in april is 71
average low in april is 45
average rain is 1.45"

The wettest time of year to visit the Napa valley is January - March. There's nothing wrong with March, mustard festival showcase event ,happens the third week of March which is quite fun. but it can be wet and sometimes not. Everything is just starting to bloom, hills are green and full of yellow mustard plants. pretty quiet tourist wise at the wineries. Wineries are very quiet that time of year in general. Not a lot happening.

SPRING in the Napa Valley is full of the promises of pleasures to come. The air is fresh and fragrant with wild flowers, buds and blossoms. The mornings and evenings are crisp while the days offer pleasant temperatures and abundant sunshine. In Calistoga, the weather at this time of year is perfect for taking advantage of exceptional hiking and biking trails as well as just strolling around town. The average Spring temperature in Calistoga is 72 degrees, great for that weekend getaway to the wine country. Moreover, the rainy season usually ends by April 15, and chances are excellent that you will have dry conditions for your trip to Napa Valley.

each time in Napa is large. Plan any journeys to be over by making use of four:00 or 5:00. Napa is eye-catching yet not something is going on after the wineries close down. It became like a ghost city as quickly as we hit a pair bars and walked exterior. nevertheless it became one among my acceptable holidays. you will desire to circulate to the Frances Ford Coppula vineyard now observed as the Rubicon Estates. it is between the unique wineries and thoroughly restored, large excursion and massive wine. It became nicely worth $20 (for excursion and tasting cost).

Chances are in March it will be overcast and occasionally rainy. Sometimes the cloud cover burns off by noon and then the day's really nice and mild. Dress in layers because it's cool in the morning and night, but some afternoons even in March get a bit warm.

You'll be hitting an off-season time as far as tourism, so prices are better and the highway's not so congested. And wineries aren't so busy, and shops aren't so clogged. It's really relaxing in March. Oh, and it's easier to get a reservation or immediate seating at a restaurant.
