S Lock icons?
I manage the computers at my school, and i i have been asked ot lock the desktop on 5 win xp desktop machines. The principal complains the students delete the icons, change font, backgrounds. I've locked all but one. The icons can still be moved, changed, renamed, or deleted. I'm looking for a program or reg. edit. (NoSaveSettings doesnt work :( )to lock the desktop icons. Im hoping to pay $25 or less, and free would be even better. All help is weel appreiciated.

UPDATE:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Open Display Properties.
3. Click the Desktop tab.
4. Click the Customize Desktop button.
5. Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.
6. Check Lock desktop icons.
If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure all checkboxes in this window are un-checked.

Hello

XP can have limited accounts which restrict users from changing specified settings. Is xp professional or home installed on the computers.

Right click on the My Computer icon and left click on properties. You will see the version.

Send me an E-mail and I will try to help you out.

I agree with mojo, you need to read up on group policy and get it locked down that way.

Configure Group policies. you can disable wallpapers, context menus, right clicks. etc.. just about anything you can think of can be done through gpedit.msc
