When to take it depends on the type of medication and the goals for the medication. You should ask your doctor if he has a preference. Some meds are made to be taken at night so that they are working when you get up which is when the blood pressure is usually at its highest.

The medication lasts 24 hours but its effects may not be the same through out the day. This is why it is important to see if your doctor has a preference. If he does not, you are free to take it when it is easiest for you to remember. Most people take theirs in the morning. I take mine at night because that is when it is easiest for me to remember to take it. My morning wake up times are too erratic.
