saudi corporate interests have paid the bush family about $1 billion dollars over the past 20 years.
we will never look at things the way they truly are as long as bush is in the white house.
al quaeda is a sunni associated group - therefore have nothing to do with iran - which is shiite dominated.
where are bush and cheney casting their fish eyes now - iran.
saudi arabia has admitted to supporting sunni groups in iraq - who are killing out guys.
there are also saudi billionares who openly donate large sums of money to terror groups and have never been questioned about it.
more than any other single nation - saudi arabia was directly involved in all phases of the 9/11 attacks - especially those who profitted from knowing ahead of time and moved stocks and options to take advantage of that - insider trading if i have ever heard of it.
but we appease the saudis for fear of what might happen if we call them on their radical extremists.
the saudi govt on the other hand appeases the radical elements within their own borders.
no one is dealing with the worst situation.
what, i wonder happens, when saudi insurgents return to saudi arabia after killing american troops - will we pursure them there - i really do wonder...

The US - Saudi relationship is not what it was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
After 9/11 and Afghanistan, we asked them to stop the money going to terrorist groups that was coming out of their country. They responded by kicking us out of the Kingdom. The Iraq war was our way of letting them know that we were serious about protecting our interests in the region.
The way the war has been going, and the American public's distaste for all things Iraq has weakened our position. I doubt that the Saudi Royal Family would risk internal turmoil from Bin Laden supporters -and they are numerous - to help out America -whom most Saudis view as the preeminent Christian Oppressors of their time.

Possibly because Saudi money fuels a large portion of the US economy by way of investment.

You actually think they will put any stock whatsoever on our demands for border security when we have none in this country?

The Saudi Government is fearful of these religious nuts too. They have found by allowing these superstitious fools to travel to Iraq and attack US troops, they're alleviating a problem from within their own borders. Iraq is a kind of killing ground and is a zone where insurgents, and holy rollers from around the middle east can gather and fight. This eliminates problems for many governments who actually prefer to be rid of them.
