It was a mistake for Bush to say that; it appealed to the innocent mindset of the American people that we can get any individual, can beat any nation in a economic field and a military campaign... a lot of us Americans believe that there is some God that prefers our nation over other nations so making a statement like that just makes sense... its like magic, we can catch Bin Laden! We have bought into our own mythology of ourselves.

In the real world we have a LOT of enemies in that part of the world --nations and influential people, as well as just ordinary people. They are all capable of giving Bin Laden sanctuary and that is a HUGE area for us to police; especially if we are NOT invited into those territories. He is ONE person with thousands and thousands of miles of hostile political and geographic territory for him to hide. We can still catch him but it is very unlikely... part of it will have to be someone close to him betraying him (which is very unlikely) and/or just blind luck.

Bush should have known better then to make promises that he can't keep... but then again, he does it all the time so what is one more broken promise and hollow threat.

When he said that I thought sure he would be focusing on Bin Laden and Al Qaida too but then Bush said he doesn't think about Bin Laden all that much. Pretty strange thing to say considering everything. I guess his focus was Iraq all along.

lets see, list of lies

1. "I'll get Osama, dead or alive"
2. "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction
3. I have a great military record
4. Scooter Libby is a GOOD man
5. Stemcell research is DANGEROUS and should not be occuring.
6. I am NOT making a ton of money for the family oil business and neither is Dick Cheney for Hailburton

there are MANY more but these are just the "biggies"....

He did; but I really believe he was referring to a catch-Osama game on his video-console!
In real life, if Bush wanted him (dead or alive) he would have torn up Afghanistan by now!

Because GWB is a liar. That Osama bin Laden's head isn't on a pike in front of the White House is an affront to every family that lost a person in the WTC, and it gives lie to everything the man has said about the "War on Terror." He used the attack as a pivot to attack Iraq, and hasn't cared since then. It's despicable.

Stop criticizing Bush! It's not fair to hold someone with an IQ of 70 to their word!

If you were going to do that you'd have to bash him because he said he was going to be the education president.

And because he said al-Queda was defeated and no longer a threat.

And because he said victory in Iraq would be easy and we would be greeted as liberators.

And because he declared victory in Iraq shortly after invading.

And because he said there were weapons of mass destruction.

And because he said that Sadam was behind 9/11.

And because he led us to believe he was fiscally conservative.

And because he led us to believe he had Americas best interests in mind, when in fact it turns out that his priorities as President have been to do as thorough a job as possible of enriching his cronies in the oil and military industries, eroding personal freedoms, upending the balance of powers laid out in the Constitution, getting us out from under that pesky Geneva Convention thing, and putting in place an infrastructure to facilitate secret spying, kidnapping, torturing and indefinite "disappearing" of anyone who he deems an "enemy of freedom"

Give the guy a break, - he's been busy.

here's another question for you. who is Osama (sic)? does he now or has he ever existed in real life? yeah, yeah, i know we have pictures; i've got a picture of mickey mouse; that proves little. bin laden is sorta like the boogey man they used to scare us with.

your question is not without merit as shrub did indeed say he'd "get him." but the bin laden boogey man has outlived his purpose and the powers that be would rather you just stfu and sit down.

Really who'd have thought that bin laden would still be relevant even after Bush becomes irrelevant?

It's all happened on HIS watch and he's gonna leave it for somebody else to clean up...

But it's like kids saying they want to be an Astronaut. Less than one in a million ever get to NASA.

The rest are on meth and working nights at the truck stop.

Grrrrr
