Hi guys, Just wondering if anybody knows if i will get male bladness. My grandad on my dads side had alot of hair till he died but my dad id bald. I grandad on my mothers side became bold at around 30. I think he is a stressed individual due to alot of work adn also my dad is stressed. I wouldnt be an overly stressed guy, but like everyone i amsometimes stressed. My mother is quite hairy aswell :-). I have quite thick hair and just want to know if i will become bald as i have recently been losing a bit f hair and i am worried. Thanks alot

The premature baldness gene is on the X chromosome, which males always inherit from their mother. Since all females have 2 X chromosomes (one from her mom and one from her dad), it's a 50/50 chance whether your mom passed on the one she got from her father, which carries the premature baldness gene.
Btw, the baldness does not show up in females because the X chromosome without premature baldness will dominate. However, you only have one X chromosome dictating your appearance, not two like females.

My understanding is that it hits every other generation. My grandfather on my dad's side died at 85 with a full head of hair. My father died at 68 bald. I have a full head of hair at 70, and my son is bald at 37. Doesn't seem to be a myth.

A couple of others have pointed out and I have heard this too, that it can follow either side of the family mother/father. You can try some things to slow it down. Protein such as tuna, B vitimins, Iron. There are Rx drugs on the market today for men loosing hair.

It does not always follow the mother's side. It can follow either side. From the sounds of it, you are already starting to go bald. Enjoy it -- don't let it get you down.

Dad was pretty bald mid thirties, so was I, so is my son. Don't think there's a proved standard. Go bald with pride, it's not the problem you might think.

Yeah, it goes down your mums line. If her dad was bald, you will be.

as soon as you notice your hair falling out or thinning, get on propecia, youll have to take it for life or till you dont care anymore, but it wont fall out as long as your on it, good luck
