Good question, although what's the hurry?
June and July are typically slow months for storms.
This year got off to a quick bang and then suddenly died down. And that's bad.
As hurricanes cross the open water, they churn up cold water from the depths. But if there's no storms, then the ocean temperatures are free to climb higher.
Right now, many parts of the Atlantic are well over 80 degrees, and most of the Gulf of Mexico is nearing 90.
In short, we have a potential timebomb on our hands.
If a hurricane entered the Gulf as it stands now, it could easily reach Katrina strength.
So, if you live on the eastern seaboard, now is the time to have an emergency plan while it's still quiet.
