No we don't but we do help old ladies cross the road without mugging them

We also give pregnant women a seat on a bus.

We also have a better sense of community because people actually care about where they live and they tend to know the name of the next door neighbours

I am a northern lass and I have never said "ay up" ever. As for only eating pies and pasties ummm no thanks. My diet is very varied and does include pies occasionally but not a weekly thing.

So the answer to your question is, no it's not true. :)

Yes, in the same way as all Londoners speak proper cockney ( trouble and strife, apples and pears etc), wear outfits covered in thousands of buttons and have a good old Eastend knees-up to celebrate the opening of an envelope.

I live in Nottingham (central England) and everyone says "Ay up" here............
but Northerners are far more down-to-Earth and friendly than Southern mincers.

We don't all eat pies and pasties......... we like fish & chips too

Amazing question from a soft, southern, shandy drinking muppet who has yet to venture north of Watford. Tell you what mate, instead of making stupid comments why don't you head up north. On the plus side you may actually enjoy it a realise it's a lot better than the south, and on the plus side a northener may smack your teeth in.
