I mean isn't it so that to be politician is to fight for something you truly believe in, in terms of serving justice, speaking up and fighting for morals etc.
But why are the politicians drawing big salary and perks while their main responsibilities are to serve the people?

i read that the main points are to prevent corruption and to draw good quality people. if not there would not be enough talented people to serve the government as most prefer to work in big corporations that give very attractive handouts.
BUT this really sound like an excuse to me. as the bottomline is serving the people. What do you think?
