For instance, if there's a promotion saying "10% off if you mention our ad" or "15% senior discount". Then when you get the bill, it's X dollars, how can you tell where the discount is? I ask because I questioned one man about the discount he mentioned and he said it was already taken into account when he wrote up the bill.

he could be telling the truth ir he could be talking rubbish, it should mention the discount on the reciept, but take into account a lot of people give fake discounts (putting the price up before taking the discount away)

you ask what the price is before you buy and then again when you are ready to purchase the item.
