Why would God create our genes to operate in such a way that 5% of all babies, the result of male-female intercourse, will grow into adults who prefer male-male or female-female intercourse? And why would he ever want to punish someone who has a trait that he himself had built into our very nature?

In fact it seems more likely that God actually protects homosexuals and makes sure they will survive. Due to natural attrition alone, we wouldn't expect homosexuals to prosper. To be sure, they don't have as many offspring as heterosexuals.
But homosexuals are born at a nearly constant rate in every generation and in every culture. About 5% to 10% of all babies born become homosexual. Furthermore, homosexuality tends to run in families. There's an elevated rate of homosexuality in families with other homosexual children. Also, identical twins-those who have identical genes-have a higher-than-average chance of sharing the same sexual orientation. Based on these and other findings, modern research shows that homosexuality is almost certainly genetic. By comparison, the genetically determined trait of left-handedness is similar. This trait also occurs at a universally constant rate (in this case, about 8%).

So, logic, deduction and research reveals a predetermining genetic factor. Humans with a specific genetic predisposition become homosexual.
There is no other explanation.

I don't know, Dearest. I really don't, but I don't think that God meant to "punish" us. He meant for us to be loved. It's Humankind that's dropped the ball. God still loves us. You can't look at silly books that man has written and re-written as the "word of God", when at this moment all over the world men, women and children are dying by each others hand because people disagree on the Name of the Divine.
God Loves; Man Hates. I don't know what's happened to you recently so that you've become darker, more cynical, but if I can help, just ask. Please try to find the Light once again that's inside yourself, not that of God if you don't want, but the Light of your own beautiful Spirit.
Blessings.

God chose a select few of his children to be special, who will be persecuted by the masses for heresy, blasphemy, sacrilege, but who will spread the message of love - to love each human as you would love yourself in the world. I suppose the masses are just blind to the higher purpose we all exist here for. And like all God's special children, we shall rise above hatred, and be resurrected every time bigotry kills our soul.

once again. the bible was written by man, and is full of man's bigotries, not god's.
add in the fact that god doesn't exist, and the other fact that religion preaches love but is the cause of more hatred than love, and i'd say you've got something to think about.

When Bible was written, they knew nothing about genetics. And if God does exist, he loves his perfect gay children because we do not advocate wars, less likely to steal, kill, etc. We are lovers, not haters!!!

Yea, and when you find the 'gay gene' you can show you're right. But until then, you just have to believe it exist to prove your point.
Sorry, gay is a choice. Gays are more likely to come from divorced families raised by the mother than to have any gay members is the family gene pool.

Where is the evidence that homosexuality is genetic? Without that your whole argument falls apart.
The Bible calls homosexuality sin, as it calls adultery, gossip, lying, blasphemy, etc. We are all tempted to sin, and we all fall to the temptation from time to time. Either you accept the Bible or you don't. Let's not try to find justification for our particular temptation.
