I have a 1998 Honda Accord that dies with no warning. 70 mph on he highway and it may quit. 35 in town and it might die. The problem is intermittent. It starts back up and will likely, not have another problem.

Also, I have no problem starting it, but other people that drive the car complain that it takes several tries before they can get the car started. The key turns and it starts, but as soon as you let the key go to the "RUN" position, it dies... immediately.

Do you think these two issues are related? Does anyone have any history with this car / problem?

I replaced the upstream O2 sensor when the light came on two weeks ago.

Thanks

Honda has a recall on the 1998 Accord for stalling due to a faulty ignition switch. This is the switch that mates to the key you put into the ignition to start the car and keep it running. All of the power for the engine goes through that switch. It is the problem that causes the car to be hard to start that you mention.

take the car to a Honda dealer and they will replace the ignition switch at no charge under the recall and that will fix your stalling--no question about it.

hope that helps

It may be your ignition switch and probably is. When they get old the contacts wear and bouncing or vibrations may temporarily cause it to lose contact and die. Good Luck
