The best would have to be The Simpsons. But saying that it would have to be only from the first 7 or 8 years. After that it has slowly become the same recycled comedy and celebrity guest appearances.
I love Family Guy and think it is one of the funniest shows out there. But as of comedy I don't think their's is the best because most of their jokes stem from spoofing movies, tv shows, and sports. Also a lot of their comedy is and storylines have been done before. Also think the show was better the first time around. Since it has come back it is still good but not as good as the first three seasons.
American Dad is funny and I enjoy watching it; but a lot of the comedy is too much like Family Guy. Other than it being by the same people; they only made this show because they didn't realize that Family Guy would be brought back on the air. Seems like they don't give this show as much attention that they would have if Family Guy was still cancelled. I really enjoy Roger and Klaus the best.
Futurama is probably my second favorite on your list. Despite it being by the same people who make The Simpsons there really aren't too many comparrisons in the shows. This show has a lot of original ideas and the comedy is great. I am a little worried about the show coming back with new episodes next year. I just hope they keep it the same and don't ruin it. I do look forward though to seeing how they change little things though since the show has been cancelled for quite some time now.
I do have to agree with another person on here that South Park is amazing. The comedy on there is so well thought out and their use of satire is great. Plus they have been able to change with the times and stay fresh. It's rare that a show gets better with age like South Park whereas a lot of shows start to drift off.

Futurama is the most underrated show ever! The characters in the shows are hilarious, and there are usually lots of inside jokes and pop culture references, but they don't let those things detract from the show. While I love Family Guy, this is a big problem with it. At first it's funny, but it gets to be kind of old hat after a while. American Dad is funny, but too similar to Family Guy (sorry). Simpsons is a pioneer show, and these other shows probably wouldn't be here without them, but I still vote Futurama! Viva la Fry!
