Just looking for informed opinions. Either one would be a radical change for our country, in my opinion, a good one. Any thoughts?

Please do not misunderstand my question, I am not saying we should vote on the basis of sex, color, creed, age, sexual orientation etc. I agree we should vote on the platforms. But let's be real, I am asking from a societal perspective, where if we want to admit it or not there are many prejudices long ingrained in certain cultures in our society.

I'm not convinced that the US, as a whole, is ready for a woman president.
My GF has told me that she wouldn't vote for a woman president. She isn't sure if a woman could keep her cool in a tense situation.
I'm sure there are lots of others out there, male and female, that feel the same way. The 'ol PMS joke seems to have some resonance. Like they say, "much truth is spoke in jest".
A black president, on the other hand, wouldn't bother most people. The thing is... how black? There are a lot of black people that don't consider people like Colin Powell or Barack Obama "black". On the other hand, I don't think America will ever be able to tolerate someone like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton - folks that the black community loves.

I think any woman but Hillary, would be a good idea. I think Hillary is too devisive, to be good for the country. Also, the way the Muslims reguard women would cause many problems in dealing with them.
A black president would be fine. So if you are looking for opinions, have no problem with either a black or a woman becoming President. I just wonder if now is the right time for either.

Need a good leader that will deal with our current crisis best.
We are at war, terrorist are knocking at the doors, America's way of life is changing, and becoming defensive.
I believe a woman can be nice, and learn to carry a big stick. But I believe that a man was born carrying a big stick.
Really seriously though, are we contemplating sending a woman to defend the block. Alkida is laughing its *** off.. Although! they must not forget about Bill...

If it is Condoleezza Rice, and not because of her gender or color, but because she has the character needed for the job.
Only a racist and sexist would say being a woman or an "African American" would be a good change without considering the character of the woman or "African American". Martin Luther King Jr. would be ashamed of anyone who disagreed with his statement that people should be judged for the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

I think an African American or woman could be elected, but it has to be the right person. Skin color and sex really don't mean anything, and shouldn't factor into your decision.
I would vote for Condi Rice if she was on the ticket, but I'm not voting for Hilary or Barak.

If you are voting for president based on gender then you are doing your country a great disservice.
You vote for the candidate that matches your views as much as possible, and not the gender or the ethnicity.
Additional:
You say you would not vote based on gender but your question suggests otherwise. Your question really means "Are we ready for a LIBERAL WOMEN president".

the appropriate qualified man or woman will win the white domicile regardless of race or gender... yet that merely approximately continually in no way happens because of the fact human beings on the different side thinks their guy might desire to have gained.

why would a women or an african american in itself as president be good? Shouldn't the contents of their character be the ruling stick of what makes a person a good leader instead of this racial crap

So we're going to be voting for presidents based on their race or their sex now? That doesn't seem quite right to me. Does it seem right to you?
Let's judge based on their platforms and their deeds within our government... not by things such as sex, race, religion, etc.

I think we're ready for either one... just not Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama. How about Elizabeth Dole, Kay Bailey Hutchison or J.C. Watts and Michael Steele?
