If I'm the UK and want to text a US mobile, do I need to to include any additional numbers before the phone number itself (e.g. 001)?

I need to text my landlady!!

The number I have starts 917 322 XXXX if that helps!!

you have to put a 1 & then the area code, then the actual number.

The number you should send to is +1 917322XXXX or alternatively 001917322XXXX

yes.. i had this friend from the US and whenever i text or call him i add 00 to his digit/number..
