Sometimes Clomid can cause cervical mucus to become hostile to sperm and therefore AI or IUI is needed, but if it isn't causing any mucus problems for you then IUI won't give you a higher success rate than having intercourse. You should really have a Post-Coital Test done to make sure your cervical mucus isn't killing his sperm.
The other test you would need to have before AI or IUI is an HSG to make sure your tubes are not blocked.

Overall success rates for a healthy couple having well-timed intercourse is about 20%.
The success rate for AI or IUI is also somewhere between 15-25%.

I'm on my second Artificial insemination, waiting to see if this one worked. The process "washes" the sperm to give you the healthiest of the sperm to insert. The sperm is inserted further up into the cervix to give it a better chance to make it to the egg. $350.00 is a great price, make sure that includes all the tests and sperm washing (washing alone at the Dr we are using is $260.00), not to mention the ultrasound that must be done prior to ensure a mature follicle is present and the blood work that has to be done also.

As one of the others said, the percentage for normal intercourse is 20% chance of getting pregnant, the chance for AI is 5 - 20%. Good luck to you!!!

Six years of trying with two VERY healthy adults. Had four rounds of IUI (Artificial) and one round of InVitro that finally produced a wonderful bouncing baby boy.

The primary difference is the quality of sperm and the location of placement. There are no guarantees but the filtering process (literally) they use ensures a more healthy sperm reaches the right spot.

If you are spending only 350 you are gettinig a great deal. So go for it. My wife and I spent over $30,000.00 to bring in the little one. But we now have 7 other little ones waiting in the cryofreezer.

Best of luck! It is definiteyl worth it!
