If you pay it into an account at Halifax, they may do instant clearance, depending on where the cheque is from. They will NOT cash it without paying it into an account, trust me. Would steer clear of cheque cashing places as they rip you off and can charge anything up to about 10%. Check what they charge before you go ahead. The reason they charge so much is because of the risk of cheques bouncing, so they have to make their money from somewhere. Why not pay it into a current account somewhere-should be available day after 3rd bank working day in that sort of account.

If you're getting cash and not going to a recognised bank then they usually charge between 7.5 and 10%.

For a bank, it will depend on who the cheque is made out to. If it's made out to cash, they'll probably need to see some ID then give you the money.

I don't think they'll just hand over the cash just because one of their customers wrote the cheque.

Please stay away from these places. They are not called predatory lenders for nothing. They often are located in poor or low-income neighborhoods and offer their services at the highest possible rates. If you default, they threaten you and call your home everyday, except Sunday (even though the law allows them to do little about your default). I suggest Prosper as a source of funds. The lenders actually bid to fund your loan like an auction and the interest rates are well within reason. I think the highest interest rate right now is 30% and the lowest is around 8%. Much better than the 150% to 300% that payday lenders are charging.

no I dont think you can get it free halifax is worst mine take up to 8days to clear!!
the rates for the service your wanting are approx 2%
(£6)

try googling cheques cashed (then put in whatever area ur in)

this places rate is 2% and they offer £5cashback to new customers cashing over £200 so it'll in effect only cost ya £1 to cash it.

I'd take it to a Halifax along with two forms of ID, driving licence, passport etc and see if they can do it.
