If you looked around at different physicians, you will find one that will do it for you. You just have to go through extensive paperwork and some recommend counseling to make sure you are 100% positive of your decison. If you are willing to jump through the hoops, then you could probably find one that will do the tubal ligation for you. I know there are a few in my area in Michigan that will.
Its your body, you can do what you want with it right?? If there is a will, there is a way, right?? :)
Stick to your guns and you'll find what you are looking for! Good luck to you!!

You can get a tubal ligation WITH your husband's consent.
Doctors don't like to do this procedure on young, childless women, because such women may change their minds later - and the operation is likely irreversable. However, when the husband consents, they feel better that the decision is a well thought out one, and are likely to do it.
Congratulations for your decision.
By the way - DO be very clear that you NEVER want children before you have this procedure done. In today's political climate, it's virtually impossible to associate with other peoples' children, because anyone caring to do so is immediately presumed to be a pedophile. Even people whose jobs require them to deal with other peoples' children - teachers, nurses, and so forth (but not RC priests!) - have to get a "criminal history" run on them before they can work with children. The effect of this, of course, is to have a chilling effect on anyone wanting to work or help with children. Why bother, only to be presumed a sex criminal? So if you DON'T have children of your own, and if you don't have nieces or nephews, then you can pretty much plan on having a childless existance. (Except for the screaming brat in the restaurant, and the drooling baby hanging over you on the airplane...)

The shot is another option. It is a quarterly shot.
Remind him that many years down the road if he changes his mind, the vasectomy is easier to reverse than the tubel ligation.

Oh, vasectomy is out, huh? Why is that? He's too chicken to go through it? But he doesn't mind if YOU have surgery, though...does he?
You are right....most surgeons will not do a tubal on someone your age. You are so young. And it DOES happen where a couple changes their mind in the years to come and it's VERY difficult to reverse either the vasectomy or tubal ligation. Or (hopefully not you) the couple divorces and remarries and decides they want children with their new spouse.
Try the Depo shot or Norplant implant.

The vasectomy surgery is so much easier and less invasive than tubal ligation! Your husband needs to get a backbone. If he doesn't want kids, he should do a little something to prevent it. Why should the burden be entirely on you?

Very familiar story to me. My husband and I do not have, nor do we want children.
After many months of considering tubal litigation I decided not to do it. Instead I opted for an IUD. It has been wonderful for me. It is a great alternative especially if in the future you change your mind. Nothing to do except periodically check to make sure your strings are in place. I have the Minera and it has eased my period tremendously. In addition, insurance companies do pay for it. Forget $17 a month for other methods, my insurance covered 90% of the costs I payed like $53 once for 5 years worth of protection.

I was 24 when I had my tubal, I already had two kids though, and my Dr said he didn't think I should do it, I told him then he can raise the kids, and he did it. I do regret it though cause it has caused allot of female problems, look up PTLS (post tubal litigation syndrome) I wish there was literature on this subject before I had mine done. I would try an IUD or a nuva ring they seem to work good.

Talk with your doctor and see what options you have. He/She may have some options you don't even know about. If not, stick with the birth control. If perchance (b/c bc is only 99% effective) you get pregnant, blame your husband for being stubborn about a vasectomy! Good luck!
