If so, how does one clean it out to ensure the complete removal of herbicides/pesticides?

I'd run a couple fillings worth of soapy water out of it.

I do this all the time. I just fill and rinse at least 3 times and also spray the clean water each time through the wand.

Yes, siple as everyone previously has answered...when you cleanse it as they suggested, soap and warm water etc..pump the sprayer up as good as you can and the trigger has a lock on it..lock it to spray..and let it spray out on it's own..just lay it down and walk away...and let the wand itself clean out this way
