The average couple having well-timed intercourse has about a 20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle.
To be absolutely positive you need to wait 19 days past unprotected intercourse to test but if your period comes in the meantime you can safely assume you are not pregnant.
As a note about the previous poster, sunshine, very few women ovulate on day 14, this is from a textbook cycle that assumes every woman has a 28 day perfect cycle. This is rarely the case. Ovulation can happen very early or very late in the cycle.

It can take years to get pregnant (took my cousin almost two years). Having sex a few days after your period will not increase your chances unless you are ovulating or will be within the next few days after you had sex. Everyone is different and ovulate at different times so if your trying to get pregnant you should buy ovulation tests and keep track of your ovulation cycles and if your not trying to get pregnant you need to use protection.

You usually ovulate a few days before and after your period those times are the best chance you will get pregnant, but you can still get pregnant anytime, its just more likely at those times. If your really desperate to know if your pregnant you can actually get a blood test done at your doctors, or if you can wait its usually about 2 to 4 weeks.

Well as everybody is different you need to track your cycle and get a ovulation test or kit to confirm on which days you ovulate. On average you ovulate on day 14 of your cycle, that is when it is most likely to get pregnant although you can still get pregnant during other times, you will only know when you have missed your period and have taken a positive home urine pregnancy test.

It takes about 1/10 of a second to GET pregnant.
You will know you were successfully pregnant about nine months after that-when the child is born.
In the meantime, you usually get a first idea when you have missed a period, and your boobs start aching.
PLEASE tell me you are married, stable, financially set and ready to be a mother.
Otherwise--WAIT!
