Can't do it. Google places the navbar there, beyond control of anything you do to the template, unless you get REALLY persnickety and manage to hack in to the deep innards of the template (get in and "edit html" on the template and "expand html widgets" and then, on your own, dig through Google's help files and learn the intricacies of their "widget" language"). But they don't really care for you eliminating the navbar! I'm not absolutely sure, but I *think* it may be in their TOS.
