Try the clear mascara, it will tone it down a little and your mom might approve of that. Wear the true cover girl foundation and light colors. If you over do it, you may become cheap looking. Remember, the trick to wearing makeup is making it look like you are not wearing it. Defeats the purpose, huh? lol Let your natural beauty shine through the makeup. Just stick with light shades of everything, and you probably do not even need blush. At your age, your cheeks are probably naturaly flushed. Also, if you have brown eyes, go for light pinks, browns, purples, and charcoals. Almost any color is good with brown eyes except blue and green. Those work better for blue and green eyes. Pinks and purples will also go with blue and green eyes as well. Stay with pinkish colors for your lips or ones with an orange tint if you want color. If not, go for a neutral lip gloss.

Best thing to do is to put make-up on when you are out of the house so your mum doesn't know and remove it before you get in, you shouldn't have to though as you are sixteen, I'm the same age. Maybe you should talk to her about this. Yes, mascara is great for any girl, you could wear a bit if eyeshadow too on your eyelids. Brown suits blue eyes and green eyes, and purple shades suit brown eyes. Also, a little eyeliner as close to your lashes as possible from the outer corner of your eyes to the middle then blend in. That looks pretty but don't put too much on! You could go somewhere such as Body Shop where they do make overs sometimes free and they will show you what make up suits you and how to apply it properly. This i strongly recommend. Good Luck

Wearing too much makeup can make you look fake, or give you a cakey look. Keep it natural. You can still get the same gorgeous look - with less makeup!
Apply a basic foundation no lighter than two shades below your natural skin tone. This just helps to even out your complexion. When wearing foundation, it's not supposed to look as though you are wearing it. If you only want to use it to get rid of shine, dab it gently on your T-zone (forehead, cheeks, nose and chin).
A peachy or slightly rosy blush will also help add a little colour while looking natural. Find the iris of your eye and move down to about the middle of your cheek, then spread the blush outwards and blend it in well.
If you want to wear eyeliner, the best natural colours are grey and brown. To make your eyes appear wider while looking natural, apply the eyeliner from the center of your inner lash line and outwards towards the outer corner of your eye. Or, you can wear a basic-looking white eyeliner, which will widen the eyes while keeping it simple.
Mascara also comes in a variety of shades. Try a brown or clear mascara. Remember to apply it from root to tip of your lashes, as applying it at the roots is what gives your eyelashes length. If you want darkening mascara, don't use clear, as this will just lengthen them.
A sheer, basic lip gloss applied over chapstick or lip balm will last longer than just applying lip gloss. A clear gloss adds a pretty effect, but does not go overboard.
As for eye shadow, just apply a nude pink powder shadow, a light brown, or even a soft lilac purple and apply a darker colour in the crease to really make your eyes pop! You can highlight under your brow bown with a gentle white or brown shadow.
Best of luck! But remember, beauty is on the inside AND out. Your makeup doesn't add beauty - it just emphasizes it!
XOXO,
Laurie

Pick a close up photo of someone and try to copy their make up. Worked for me at your age.
Steer away from foundation & blusher - your skin will look fantastic without clogging it up with that. A bit of lip gloss, and a smudge of eye shadow in the outer corners of your mobile eye lid (the bit that moves and is below the crease of your eye socket) should do the trick. Mascara helps but unless you have really dark eye lashes stick with a dark brown - which is a little more subtle than black.
Most of all, buy some and have fun trying out different looks in the privicy of your own bedroom, there are no real right and wrongs.

Try something natural but effective. Put a very light brown eyeshadow over your eye area and use a little mascara to open up and emphasise your eyes. I'd use a nice shimmery blush just to highlight your cheekbones and finish with a natural pink gloss or lipstick.
Please don't start relying on foundation, it's more hassle than it's worth, especially if you have nice skin. You can get pearly highlighting creams that when mixed with your moisturiser gives your skin an amazing healthy glow!
This stuff is brilliant!!!- http://www.boots.com/brandtreatment/product_details_brand_treatment.jsp?productid=1057259&classificationid=1047054
Keep it simple until you build your confidence in applying it.
Even try different looks and practace applyng your makeup at night before you go to bed, at least if you try something you don't like, you're just taking it straight back off any way.

I gather that you have good skin if you dont wear makeup.
If your skin is blemish free then there is no need to wear foundation but maybe a little bit of concealer to even out your skin tone.
Apply mascara onto the top of your lashes but only two coats because you dont want your lashes to look clumpy and messy.
If you dont want to look like your wearing a whole heap of makeup then dont put eyeliner on the bottom of your lashes.
If you want, get a lipgloss that is close to the colour of your lips or one shade darker.
Well hope this all helps but I am a bit surprised that you dont wear any makeup at all at 16. You must have really good skin

If you don't need it, don't wear it! Trust me, one day you will be proud to say that you don't need makeup. I started wearing makeup at the age of 12, and my skin aged 5 years because of it!
But okay, if you are going to wear makeup, don't use the stuff from the drug store (cover girl, maybeline, revlon, etc)! They completely clog your pores and look fake. I suggest trying bare minerals for face powder, and maybe a clear mascara to magnify your lashes without looking too fake.
The natural look is really popular right now, so remember that less is definitely more. And by the way, your boyfriend will love you nomatter how "emphasized" your gorgeous eyes are!

you dnt need a lot-all make up is meant to do is enhance your natural beauty-not cover up!
mascara does open up the eyes and empahasises them,so maybe you could practise by wearing some a few times a week-only if you want to!For the top lashes, look down into a mirror and brush on gently-any mistakes just use some make-up remover on a cotton woll bud to neatly get rid of clumps!
a bit of eyeshadow will also emphasise the colour of your eyes-Brown should go for blues, purples,Blue should use green, tawny brown,Green should use lilacs, pinks.
and there you have it! gorgeous eyes!
vaseline moisturises your lips and acts as a lip gloss too!
good luck! xxx :D

Yes - I head for the mascara every morning I wake up, and it makes alota difference to my appearance.
If any girl is choosing to keep makeup to a minimum, and choose 1 - has to be mascara because it gives you a pretty, feminine and a little more grown up look.
I couldn't live without foundation (Preferably Wonder finish) - and mascara. Plus from the side you'll be more attractive.

Well mascara is ok.. but I would listen to your mommy. Also if you really want to put on makeup you can use colourless mascara. It has no colour in it but works well on eyelashes. Im not sure of the same yet but just ask someone at the store for mascara that is colourless.
