Maybe you can go back the way your ancestors did...on a three masted schooner, with their tails between their legs, surrender documents in hand.

I say swim. Actually you might be able to do me a favor. The last time I was in England I met this old time blacksmith. I tried to explain how he didn't have to work so hard in a modern society and there were machines to make his work easier, but he just looked at me with a god awful smile with corpse teeth and asked "What's a machine?" Well I thought I would be nice to the peasant and told him that when I get back to the states, I'll send him a brand new anvil I have. Please take it with you. You should have no problem finding this old man, he said he was your mum.

Well I have not had much experience in this sort of thing but I don't think driving is a very good idea. The Briny gets in the Way

Well, Google maps did have a line-item entry "swim across the Atlantic Ocean; 3500 miles" if you asked for directions from NYC to London or Dublin.

Take the car- head up Alaska way and make your way across Russia.

I think it's a 4 hour drive. Say hello to Mr Putin for me.

With a question like that and given you own choices I'd say the best way would be in a locked straitjacket.

I think you should SWIM across the Atlantic! After all, the fish and chips and the steak and kidney pie have built you up enough, right?
