Former Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona has complained about having his speeches edited. He could not talk openly about embryonic stem cell reseach. He was not allowed to speak before a Special Olympics group because of their Democratic Party leaning. He was told that every page of his speeches had to mention the President at least three times. Has Bush used his religious beliefs to interfere with scientific research? He has done the same thing with federally funded climatologists who warn about global warning.

Issues important to Me: Education( I teach), health care ( millions of children in the U.S. have none), and putting an end to nation building elsewhere. Let's take care of the needs of our own nation first. Our national infrastructure has been neglected for far too long. I don't care about social or religious conservative issues. That is why we have churches. Let's keep government and religion separated. It is an unholy alliance.

George Bush is the furtherest thing from a Conservative. He entered office claiming to be a Conservative but has done nothing but betray that statement. True Conservatives are for small government; Bush has increased the size of government; Conservativesare for decreasing government spanding, Bush increased spending; Conversative are for small business, Bush is not; Everything that Conservatives believe in has been thrown back in the faces of those who believed in him as a Conservative. I voted for him twice as did many of my friends, now we are ashamed that we did. I do not think a Democrat would have been the answer, so I do not know what the correct vote would have been. However, this time a vote of mine will be for a true Conservative, but so far, no announced candidate has proven to be worth my vote. I am waiting for Fred Thompson to see where he stands on issues that are important to Conservatives and me. Please tell me what issues are important to you.

You created an oxymoron: "social conservative political correctness." PC is liberal not conservative. On social issues the President is very liberal; the Medicare drug program, Campaign finance reform, the attempted amnesty bill.
You asked more than one question. That is cheating. Re: your second question. It frustrates me that liberals cannot get this straight. The President opposes using federal tax dollars to fund embryonic stem cell research. He is not opposed to embryonic stem cell research. His opposition is on moral grounds. I oppose government funding of embryonic stem cell research on economic grounds as well. It has shown no promise. That is why private enterprise does not fund it.
There are millions of people who believe there is man-made global warming. Millions believe the sun is causing increased global warming. There is no research that is needed. You can measure the temperature with a thermometer.

I can't help but wonder if it would have been Ok for him to mention Bush three times per page in this context...
"We are losing our competitve edge in medicine because of BUSH's veto on stem cell research', or 'teen STD and pregnancy rates have risen under BUSH's abstinenece only programs' etc...

I first encountered this Conservative/ Neo- conservative infighting in 1998 and it was in the context of a long standing battle for "legitimacy" within the party.

What you're citing is not about political correctness. It is part of the Bush Propaganda/media image machine.

I'm with you on stem cell research, but that is his policy and choice, even if it is backwards thinking.

However, no one should entertain the full-of-it global warming alarmists. I mean, they can't accurately predict local weather for the next two weeks, and you have faith that they understand global weather for the next few years?
