It is in the constellation Orion, the brightest constellation in the sky. Orion is a winter constellation, so you will have to wait a few months to see it. The nebula can be seen easily in a 2.4 inch telescope at low magnification, or even in binoculars. You can even see it without optical aid. Just look! But you do need to know where to look. You need a star chart. The source is an on line star charting site.

The Orion Nebula is one of the most spectacular objects in the sky. At the moment it is in the early morning sky.
Orion is easy to find as it consists of 3 stars in a straight line (his belt) with a red star (Betelgeuse) above it and a white star (Rigel) below it. At about a 45 degree angle to to belt and below it you will find another 3 star, somewhat fainter than the belt (Orion's sword). The middle star is the Nebula. Even with a pair of binoculars it is good. This nebula is a star factory where stars are being formed from the dust and gas.
