My new old house has a huge tree in the yard. It's apparently dead: no leaves at all, squirrels eating all the bark, etc...
Is there any other possible action besides removing the tree before large branches start falling?
thx!

I'd have it removed before it starts constantly littering your yard or causing other problems. You could first have an arborist come and to make certain that it is dead.

Might cut it down and leave the tree stump cut off straight to a height of 30 inches then place a table top on it , place chairs and you have a picnic area outside

It will probably have to come down, before it lands on your house in a storm.

If you have room and like the idea, a "fallen" tree is a great help in a wildlife friendly garden.

Make a cool totem pole out of it

don't cut it down because you will harm the animals and creatures that lives there, and they'll have to look for a new home.
