RECENTLY DURING A VISIT TO MY LOCAL WALGREENS STORE my bike was stolen. Not from the outside of the store but fm the inside; when i first arrived i asked the clerk to ask a manager to have a vagrant leave from in front of the store as is was blantanlty clear he wasnt shopping; well thats not all true, he came back in the store(after being told to leave by manager) and he took my bike from INSIDE the store. Now im having an ins adjuster call me wanting to know if i had a chain and a lock that day? why does that matter? Once the clerk gave me permission to bring it in (which they have in the past as well) i did. Basically i had a felony commited on me in walgreens. no one offered to cll the police and after i paid for the things that i came there for (75.00) i was escorted home by my fiance who came up there to console me, evidenlty no one else cared. o im sorry the manager did stop long enough to tell me right after it happened that "i made him leave 1 already do i have legal recours

I did not know theft of a bike was a felony. As for do you have recourse you need to talk to a real lawyer not us yahoo lawyers.

As Iil me told you , you have no recourse against Wal-Greens. They did not agree to watch your bike nor did there occur anything which would translate to a Bailment (legal responsibility) on their part.
and by the way, I AM a real attorney. Retired after 35 years of practice. And you STILL do not have legal recourse. But waste your money if you wish.

By the way Amy, just because the insurance adjuster and the company said they would compensate you (and I don't believe a word of it) doesn't mean they are LEGALLY liable.

First, its not a felony to steal a bike. A felony in most cases is theft of over 500 dollars worth of stuff. If your bike was worth more than 500 dollars, common sense would tell you to lock it up. Second, they gave you permission to bring it in. They did not agree to watch it. Third, can you not call the police? Fourth, the manager doesnt have to do anything in regards to showing sympathy. Its not a law that you have to be nice to people.

No they are not liable. The reason the lock matters is because its YOUR property and your are responsible for it. Many businesses would be sitting ducks for insurance fraud if they were responsible for people making their own mistakes. I mean whats next you misplace your wallet and blame Walgreens for that too. Take some responsibility for your own bone-head actions and stop trying to find a legal cop out. Geez!

Walgreen's ain't a parking lot for bikes. The fact that they were nice enough to let you bring it inside is remarkable. But now you fuss because you expect them to babysit your bike too ???

They are under no obligation to babysit your bicycle. So no, they are not at fault, but the person who stole it is. Yes you should have had a chain and a lock if you were concerned about keeping your bicycle safe.
