The only Carrera I've ever heard the Mk II monicker applied to is the 996 GT3, with the Mk I being the original European only version, and the Mk II being the second version that came out in 2003 (and was also available in the US). Both models are called Carrera, though more often just called "GT3."

I've never seen this mentioned in regard to a "regular" Carrera... though it could possibly refer to the aero package, as the GT3 areo package was offered as an option for the standard Carrera Coupe.
