I am in the process of reading novels written by young Nigerians with a background like mine. Helen Oyeyemi and so forth. I was wondering if anybody has conme across some other young writers. Helen just published her second novel "Opposite house" I liked the first one better though.

I have read 'Purple Hibiscus' and 'Half of a yellow sun' by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who is in her late 20s. Her writing focuses more on family relationships and Nigerian politics and how it affects people. Her second novel 'Half a yellow sun' is set in Nigeria during the 1960s. I thought both were very good.

Things Fall Apart is my favorite novel, and it's set in British occupied Nigeria.

Sure, I get a great Nigerian novel in my e-mail every week or so. They are all the same though. You know the ones, "Help me smuggle my late father/husband/friend/tycoon's fortune out of Nigeria and I'll share millions with you."
