no they are not. we have a double murder that has not been solved for3-4 years or so even though they have been told who did it and where evidence is. a guy who disappeared and they can't find him even though they have been told where his body is. and my father was "hanged" back in march and neighbors heard him yelling for help and no one helped. they even have evidence that it was foul play and they still haven't done anything. also as recently as this past weekend 2 guys who some say are still employed as cops and some say they are not had minors in their vehicle and they were all drinking or drunk and had a wreck. one of the cops was driving. one of the girls are very bad off. so no i don't think they do a good job here.

Well the crime rate in my area is not that high but crimes do happen. and i don't personally believe that the police are doing an adequate job to fight crime. For instance they never patrol the area and when a crime has been commite they may take forever to get on the scene.

Hi and GM Reo.....I have to say that "yes" our police department is doing an adequate job considering. I know and realize that every small town and city has their share of issues and problems but it seems to me that our town has had more violent crimes and murder and such in just the last 10 yrs and gang related issues that our police department have been on their toes. They need more moral support from us citizens and financial support from the government and state so they can provide a more sufficient job. So "yes" I would have to say that our police authorities are doing their best with what they have to work with. Have a great day!

No. When my home was repeatedly broken into and things stolen from me the police did nothing, even after the theif was caught in the act of breaking in and escorted from my property at gun point. I later found out that the thief was an informant who was ratting out people for drugs and by doing so had purchased immunity for not only his career as a thief but also for beating his wife.
Next time I won't call the police...

No, they are nothing but goons here. There is little training other than self defense. They only come out at the end of the month to top up their quota, and any time you need one (car accident, disturbance) ... "it's against policy to send a car blah blah blah".
This is in Ontario, the Provincial Police and the RCMP are just as crooked, if the National News is to be believed. Looks good on them too!

No. I was walking down the street the other day (past a Dunkin Donut shop) and watched 25 cruisers park and 2 officers per cruiser went to lunch at the same time! 50 officers
eating donuts and drinking coffee while less than 20 feet from that shop prostitutes and drug dealers were making deals with everyone that wanted to. I have yet to see a police
officer actually earn his or her paycheck. When it comes to the cops remember one thing, GIVE UP THE DONUTS AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT!!!!!!!!!!!

mayberry usa, you'd think it would be easy.
unfortunately the youth gang presence is keenly felt here. there have been several shootings of intended victims, bystanders, and property in the last few months alone. (population - 20,000)
the police have identified that there is a problem, and are attempting to deal with it. using bike patrols, increased officer presence in certain areas, and the fact that a new police chief was just sworn in... the appearance is that they're dealing with it the best they can considering manpower shortages.
adequate, yes. effective, hmmm.

Hi!
Yes they are - because we have a joined up approach involving victim of crime groups, police, housing, education, faith groups, probation, local prisons, courts and others.
Many people who used to offend have chosen to become community builders instead.
When the police were working in isolation, it was a harder job.
Good wishes.
