hahahaha , the mother side of course...why, well , because when a man is married he becomes closer to his wife family than to his family,,, so all the family later (including the children ) become closer to the mother family more to the father family,, well ,, what is the reason -that , the man is closer to the wife family.?...
well that was in an answer to you in a different question,,, as daughters ( now they are wives) are closer to their parents and families than sons(now they are the husbands)
woman is always closer to her family than man,,, then when they get married they grap all the new family to the own old one,,,Children are generally closer to the mother than the father,,, and Mams are closer to the old familly than fathers do to their own,,,, Voila,,, children become closer to the aunts and uncles, grandfather and grandmother from mothers side than from fathers side...
So two reasons:
1) mothers are closer to their old families than fathers to their owns
2)children are closer to mothers than to fathers (actually fathers are closer to their wives old family than to their owns)

From my mom side, b/c if u are Arabian in these cultures, the mother has more effects on her kids than the father, so, if u understand what I really mean, absolutely they would like to choose the uncles and aunts from their mothers side!

I'm not really close to the family!! all problems comes from them!! so I keep a distance between us, I just visit them and call them "regulierement", but we are not veeery close
but I'm closer to my motrher's side family; because we used to spend the holidays with them, and they visit us a lot, they are more caring, I feel that they are "family", the others always see us as our mother's children, and as they don't really like mama, they don't really appreciate us too!! and you can say that I hate some of them
wonderful family right? ;-)
hey, I have 20 uncles & aunts(my father's side only), and I don't feel any attachement with anyone of them, I have only 3 uncles (my mama side), and you can say that I appreciate an uncle of them, I like him to be present in my special occasions...

I don't know anyone from my mothers side. The few that were not killed during the many bomb attacks throughout the years on the villages where the lived, are scattered all over the world, and because of so many deaths, the family is a bit diluted, and it is difficult to find any of them. I have my father's family, which is huge enough for me to pick which ones I like and stay close to them. The ones I am closest to are I guess considered my second cousins (grandmothers were sisters, our parents are first cousins), and they live in Miami. So, I guess I'm the black sheep of the group.

Well, I would have to say my mom's side. There are two reasons for this is that my parents divorced when I was two and my mom had custody. The other reason is that all my dad's brothers and sisters (2 of each) all live out of state. So, my mom's brothers and sisters (also 2 of each) were the ones we saw more.
Besides that WWIII broke out on my dad's side of the family and there's only one aunt that'll talk to me (I keep in touch with her through email). I have one uncle that talks to me - but most of our contact is through cards and things for holidays. His other two siblings, won't acknowledge me. Although, one of them did send me an email two weeks before my wedding telling me not to call or write anymore. No explanation. I was just written off.

Yeah, yeah. I know what you're talking about. I feel closer to my uncles and my aunts from my sister's side. But that maybe because I don't have any brothers.

Perhaps mother side
Not that i care much for them,i mean everyone has their own life these days.
whereas my father side, they didnt much accept my mum so surely they dont accept me.And that hurts.
I dont get soo attached to family, like uncles and aunts. But my cousins from mum side and dad side are still part of me.we still in touch no matter the distance.

Lately none... but before, i was close to my mom's side of the family, some of them not all of them anyway...
And only one cousin from my dad's side that i really feel comfortable around... she is old and some of her kids are older than me, but what makes her different from others is the fact that she's honest and down to earth... she doesnt lie like some other cousins or only want to show off.. :)

My mom's side, I guess the girls bring their babies into the family and boys take them out of the family.
I always felt more comfortable around my mom's family, we went over their all the time, while my dad's side well it was a few times if hardly at all in the year.
I look at my daughters and can see them bringing their babies to me, like they are mine, but I see if my son's have kids of their own, his wife will take her babies to her mothers house and not to mine as maybe its the other woman type of jealousy or uncomfortable thing.
For her its the in-laws, his family. Then there's my family.
For him its family, where would you like to go sweetheart?
