I was wondering if anyone could tell me in layman's terms what is the value of the US Dollar when compared to other major countires. I have tried using those dollar converters but became even more puzzled. If anyone could share information on how much a single US Dollar would be worth in other major countries, that would be great. Someone said that our dollar would actually double in Mexico yet it would be worth only about 75 cents in Canada. If there is anyway to see the truth in this statment, I would surely appreciate your feedback....thanks one and all!!!

P.S. Can anyone also share with me exactly how much our US Dollar would be worth in major countries such as Great Britain, Japan, Korea, India, South Africa, Venezuela, France, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Argentina, Chile, Egypt and China??? This information alone would be a great help....thanks again!!!

You have a very complex question. Below the link I have provided will take you to a currency exchange calculator. First enter the amount of money, then select the type of currency it is- then select what you want to trade it for. Hit calculate- and it will tell you the conversion.
Currency value is based on several factors- some being- GDP, Inflation, and the global market. The worse your economy is the less that country's currency is worth. I know this is not a perfect answer but hopefully it will help you out some....

Okay...you've asked a complicated question.

Here's a link to a table of exchange rates:

http://www.x-rates.com/

If you look at that table, it shows that the British Pound is worth 2.03 US Dollars. And it also shows that one US Dollar is worth .4908 British Pounds. I hope you can see how it goes both ways.

Several things to note:
The exchange rates change all the time. Usually just a few pennies either way.
Some banks will sell a currency at a slightly higher rate than they will buy it. (They want to make money.)
Prices of products also vary in different countries, so its hard to compare prices from country to country. For example, just because the dollar only buys .4908 pounds, don't assume that things are twice as expensive there. Its just that one pound is worth more than one dollar.

If you go to Yahoo and search for "currency exchange rates" or "US dollar exchange rates" you may find a better table.

Our accumulating national debt and the ongoing trade deficits are the main reasons for the decline of the US dollar, relative to other currencies. I support political candidates who address these issues and stand for fiscal responsibility. I believe the Bush administration has been fiscally irresponsible, embarking upon a war which costs nearly a trillion dollars, after implementing tax cuts.

really in my opinion there is no value of a dollar. its just paper. the thing that has value is what u get with that dollar. goes varies on how much money that the mint prints out. more money=less value. less money=more value. also it depends on how our economy is working and our relations with other countries. the exchange rates between countries will always change because thw amount of money that gets printed out always gets changed and the economy is constantly going up and coming down not only in this country but in every country. for ur currency conversions go here. the value of the dollar

hope this helps.
