People who do that sort of thing are really pathetic. After all, walking never killed anyone, and God knows that a lot of these people could use a little exercise! Not only that, but it's really annoying for the rest of us to get stuck behind a bunch of cars that keep driving around in circles.

Aside from, but germane to your point, I count things. For instance, I count the steps I take from my car to the front door of the grocery store which is usually somewhere around 108 -138 steps. While taking those steps, I notice cars driving in the circles you talk about and I always beat those drivers inside. Those "drivers" are the reason that I park far out on the parking lot and walk. Drives me crazy seeing those lazy a**ed b*stards waste al that time and gas!

They're lazy (IMHO).. I usually park at the back of the lot and walk as I'm more apt to get a spot where I can pull through and then drive out by going ahead. I don't like backing up when there are a lot of cars around me.

Because they are lazy. In my opinion it takes more effort to drive around and find the closest spot then it would be to park the darn car in whatever spot you find and walk. But laziness is the reason. Unless you are elderly or with child, then you have a reason.

My mother does that and it gets me angry too. She does have arthritis in her legs and hips and that's what she uses as an excuse. But I feel that walking an extra 250 feet could only help her. I agree with you why waste time driving around in circles when you can park where a spot is available and get to your shopping.

In most cases it's just pure laziness. In some cases they may have a better reason, like not being up to walking far due to injuries or illness.

my grandma does this and it used to drive me crazy! she would even drive around and if she saw a spot opening and she didnt think she could make it to the spot before someone got it, she would make me get out and stand there until she came around to park..... talk about embarassing!!

My hubby is one of the closest spot types... Not me, though. I don't mind walking.

A gallon of gas is expensive, but have you checked the price and quality of Chinese made shoes lately?
