It may not mean anything at all... or it may mean that they are uncomfortable in someway. That could be for any number of reasons including but not limited to the following:
1. They fancy you like heck and are embarrassed about possibly letting it show so they over compensate and almost cut you out.
2. They hate you and are ignoring you.
3. They are socially gauche inept and rude.
4. They are shy.
5. They are arrogant.
6. If its a guy they may be a chauvinist or worse a misogynist. Either way in that case they probably think that women are beneath notice.

Take your pick - it could be any or all of them - or none!

Either way the only way you are going to get it sorted is to explain how uncomfortable it makes you feel and maybe enlist the help of the group to get who ever it is to stop behaving like an idiot!

Everyone is different. Some people don't feel comfortable looking others in the eye, while others have physical problems with their eyes that cause them to do so.

Either way, get past your beliefs that this is a diss on you and engage them in a conservation.

Embarrassed, bashful, lier, fancy you or bad mouthed you to group previously, or they could just have a mental health problem, depends if they do it to any one who engages them personally in conversation.

I feel uncomfortable when someone looks me directly in the eyes. But when they totally never look my way- I get the message that I am in the wrong crowd- move on.

Some people are just shy, and most men just dont look at your eyes cos they are too busy looking at your boobs! I have the same trouble, but its not a bad thing, just shyness or overeagerness.

It might be because they fancy you and are too shy to look you in the eyes. Trust me I've been like that before.
