Im from the UK and planning on going into accountancy. could i study for the ACA or equivalent in OZ?

Or would work permits and that prevent me?

You won't know till you try!
For working or studying in Australia you will need the appropriate visa.

Why not? You may need work permits but they do not prevent anything much.

There is a private business school in Australia called the Hemingway Robertson Institute which does things like accountancy qualifications, it is based in Melbourne. Their qualifications are generally accepted in Australia and I think they do correspondence courses. Other public colleges run diplomas and degrees in accountancy and commercial subjects. These can be found in most of the larger cities and towns.
