Where bargains are available, so is the public. How in the world can people switch holidays around to different times of the year? The greed in the marketplace has worsened, so yes, the general public will celebrate anything, just to get to spend money and be more paganistic. I personally will enjoy the holidays as they fall. Yes, I buy gifts for others but usually this happens when there is a sale and there is something available that is worthwhile to give as a present. Still, I save those items basically for Christmas or a special birthday. I just don't go haywire and buy something because a big For Sale sign beckons me. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

It's basically a retail promotional program to move items out of the backrooms and warehouses that have been sitting around collecting dust. Christmas items are or have been ordered at this point and the space will be needed for them when they arrive. Also sales at this time are somewhat between seasons and drop off, so there is hope to push up the numbers a bit.

Pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that Christmas is the biggest holiday for retail sales, while the dead of the summer (July) is the slowest for sales. It's simply an advertising tactic to get consumers to spend money.

This is the real story. In Australia their winter is during our summer. They have a Christmas like celebration in July. Somehow the phrase "Christmas in July" made it into our lexicon. After that it snowballed, sorry, to where it is used for retailers, and television shows.

I do not know exactly who came up with the idea for "Christmas in July", but I am one happy person because of it. Oh.... gotta go and get my little tree ready for Wednesday. See 'ya.
