Ouch, Georgie Porgie, ya cut me deep. Yes the Braves will catch the Mets, simply because Andruw will get his avg. up to about .265 (and in a contract year, no less!!! He's not on my good guy list right now.) and they will dig in for one more quality arm -- notice I didn't say superstar arm. So what if Pedro comes back -- he's not who he used to be. IF the Braves are on a downhill slide, and I'm not saying they're not, it began when Mazzone went to Baltimore and it will be cemented when Bobby has a heart attack screaming at some ump that doesn't know what a strike zone is as it applies to Braves pitchers (ha ha).

I think they will. They're playing as good as anyone right now, and the Mets are not as superhuman as most of us thought they would be. Atlanta needs to make the move this month though, because in September they have a much tougher schedule. I'd also like to see the Braves pick up a solid starting pitcher for the stretch run.

My heart is telling me no. My brain has a different story. My beloved New York Mets are so pathetic right now its not even funny. Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran right now, are the two worse contracts the Mets have even given anyone (I know Delgado's contract was via trade, but still) These two guys are supposed to be the superstars of the team and all they are, are rally killers and underachievers. But hey, at the end of the day, they're still millionaires, right?

They have a chance, but i also have a chance of winning the lotto..
The mets are looking into trading for Oswalt and pitchers like him,, the braves are also going to surely add some pieces,, but in the end the mets offense hasn't even gotten rolling yet.. and when it does they play .600 ball,, it will be hard to keep up with that..
Plus they are guarunteed an addition around the trade deadline in Petey Pedro..
Braves will win the wild card though, and gracefully bow out in the first round ,, as usual..
also cant count out the phillies,, too bad they play in a Little leAGUE PARK..

The Mets have a difficult road trip ahead and I would not be surprised to see the Braves catch them. However, I would be surprised to see the Braves finish ahead of the Mets this year because I believe the Mets have a better team.

I think they can...If Chuck James and Buddy Carlyle keep throwing well and giving the Braves a chance to win...Smoltz needs to stay healthy too...Andruw has started to heat it up..but i also think that they need to go out and pick up a quality pitcher (like Contreras or Matt Morris), however, other teams are probably gonna want Escobar or Saltalamacchia in return. So we'll see if the Braves are willing to part ways with their young prospects.

It wouldn't shock me, but I think the Met's will spend some money before the deadline to help keep the Braves at bay..

No..the Braves don't have reliable pitching and the Mets will be getting Pedro back and have an unlimited amount of cash to pick up another pitcher. Actually, i think the Phillies may even surpass the Braves.

No.
It is time brave fans wake up and realize your day in the sun is over, and it's time to pass the torch to a team that deserves it (The Mets).
Thank you, have a nice life.
