I'm single, no kids, and 38 years old. The cut off age is 40. I have a debt (school loans and credit cards) totalling to about $20,000. I'm currently making less than 25 grand a year and it's not cutting it. These agents start at $35 g's a year. Just curious about what the good folks of America thought.

I was a Border Patrol Agent before we started having kids in the 70's. After you finish your training in Georgia, you will be placed in the most god forsaken places on earth. I was put in a town in New Mexico(I'm from Texas) which had no schools and only one small store. The work is hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and is very dangerous. The drug traffickers have no problem killing you. My wife made me quit and move somewhere we could raise a family. I loved the job.

The biggest deal will be your ability to learn Spanish. You will have to take a short course and be pretty conversant for them to hire you. You will most likely end up spending a lot of your life living in some small border area away from American people since the border community at least on the southern border is made up of Mexican/Americans. Some towns don't even speak English in the schools.
