Hearing the heartbeat is an incredible experience. I'm very excited for you!
As to breastfeeding, yes pumping burns calories because your body is producing milk. It will help you lose your pregnancy weight faster.
Instead of Alka Seltzer try the Tums Soft Chews for an antacid. You will also get some much-needed calcium.
Sleeping is difficult even in early pregnancy because the pressure on your heart increases. Your blood volume increases by 50% and that taxes the body. Plus even though you are small your uterus IS growing and putting pressure on organs and nerves. And to add to it, your mind is racing and full of thoughts and worries making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.
Ultrasounds cost about 300-400 dollars. My insurance does not cover them, either, so we just don't get them. Besides, unless you have a medical reason to do the scan, why would you want to needlessly expose the baby to ultrasound waves? They do receive a very small amount of radiation.
All the best to you and baby!

First of all congratulations on your pregnancy. Yes, you lose weight if you pump. You are still burning calories that way. As far as alka seltzer with no asprin, I would ask your doctor. I was uncomfortable at 11 weeks too, cause I am not used to sleeping on my left side, and you have a lot of things on your mind.
To find out the sex of the baby, ultrasounds cost around 200-300 dollars.
Good luck, I hope you hear the heartbeat. If you don't, do not panic, your baby is moving around a lot and is still very small.

As far as getting your figure back, I couldn't breast feed due to medication, but I walked 2-5 miles every other day and got down 3 sizes lower than my prepregnancy size. I truly believe that exercise is the key. It is also important and easier to get your figure back if you exercise DURING pregnancy - I did prenatal water aerobics and walking. The water is nice because you feel weightless!
Ask the pharmacist about the alka-seltzer. Tums helped me settle my tummy in early pregnancy and my doc said Dramamine (regular formula) was safe to take too for nausea.
Join the club on not sleeping - I am only a month along an dalready am so excited I can't sleep. I would try some lavendar scented lotion and a calming rain or ocean CD - both help me some.
Don't know about the ultrasound. Sorry. Enjoy today!!!!!

Remember, your body is going through some big changes and you know you best. A doctor can give you guidelines and advice but your the one who will have to choose what you can handle. Everything in moderation, as long as you don't use it everyday. If your uncomfortable sleeping try using an pillow between your legs or on the side of you to prop one leg up to help you sleep on your side. If you sleep on your back put a pillow under your legs just below the knees. As far as your ultrasound, just drink as much water as possible without peeing, the water helps you see more clearly during the ultrasound. I found out the sex of all 4 of my kids at the first ultrasound. Congratulations and good luck!!!!

I want today to go by too, I get my ultrasound tomorrow morning!! I dont know the answer to most of your questions but an ultrasound cost me about 500 dollars last year when i needed one and didnt have insurance. I still owe the hospital money... Oh and sleeping, I have noticed that it is getting more uncomfortable to sleep, the worst part is waking up 3 or 4 times to go pee. I'm 17 1/2 weeks

wait till your appt. to find out the sex!! man, talk about a day that wont go by fast enough!!
as for pumping, i did that, and i found it very hard to keep up with the demand, so i ended up adding more and more formula, so for losing weight, probably not the same.
isnt sodium b. just baking soda?, its the asprin. try apple cider vinigar for indigestion (like 1-2 tbs.)
ultrasounds are expensive, mabey 200 bucks, thats just a guess.
well, have a great day!!

even if you pump it will still be just as healthy for you and your baby. i breast fed both my kids and my body is actually better then pre pregnancies. Do not take the regular asprin, the only pain killer that is safe during pregnancy is tylenol, regular strength. your not sleeping well because your body is changing rapidly by the minute right now, you'll get used to it. i dont know how much they cost but i never paid for mine, i think i still owe the money, you dont have to pay for it right when your there, so dont worry you'll still be able to see, and the hospital will just bill you later. if you have any other questions you can always email me!!! good luck!

i can answer the breastfeeding question. i didnt lose a SINGLE POUND breastfeeding. i stopped after 4.5 months and only when my baby was exactly 5 months did i lose the weight. Your body is the one that decides when to let the weight go bc its still in feeding two ppl mode lol.
